Megan Candie is a former journalist (2009 to 2013), turned public relations practitioner. She currently works as a communications coordinator with Leduc County, a primarily rural municipality in Alberta’s capital region. Megan provides strategic communications counsel and communications support to assigned departments, including council, county manager, Planning and Development, Enforcement Services, Fire Service and Corporate Services.
Megan is also the communications director and board member for Edmonton-based registered charity The Red Elephant, which seeks to empower women in low-resource settings by reducing and/or overcoming the barriers they face during and as a result of menstruation.
She is a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society and is pursuing a Bachelor of Professional Arts in Communications Studies from Athabasca University with plans to graduate in early 2019. Megan completed her public relations diploma at MacEwan University in 2017, where she maintained a 4.0 GPA, and earned a journalism diploma from the same institution in 2010.
Megan is an avid kayaker and paddleboarder, wine lover, knitting enthusiast, travel enthusiast and the proud mommy to two rescue pugs and a chihuahua.
