Leduc County issues fire warning
Dry conditions, high winds prompt warning from fire services
May 10, 2013 – Leduc County encourages individuals to exercise extreme caution when dealing with fire in light of recent weather conditions.
“Due to dry conditions and high winds over the past week – and no relief predicted based on the future forecast – we are urging residents to use extreme caution in an effort to keep our county safe from fire,” says Brad Gurmin, deputy fire chief with Leduc County Fire Services.
No open outside burning is recommended until a significant amount of moisture is received. Residents are urged to use extreme caution when using burn barrels or fire pits.
Fire permits will not be issued by Leduc County fire guardians and all permits that have been issued are suspended immediately.
County fire officials will continue to monitor the situation and will update the public when the situation improves.
