Leduc County contributes more than $370,000 to neighbouring communities
June 12, 2013 – Leduc County supports recreation and library initiatives in the Leduc region through collaborative cost-sharing efforts.
Council approved a motion during the regular council meeting June 11 to contribute a total of $373,833 to four neighbouring communities for the sustainability of their library and recreation services. The specific payments are detailed below.

“Leduc County continues to be a supporter of library and recreation initiatives throughout the region, as it has for decades,” says Dean Ohnysty, director of parks and recreation. “We are proud to assist these communities in promoting a healthy lifestyle while providing an increased quality of life to ratepayers.”
Funds are allocated for regional library and recreation initiatives on an annual basis. Leduc County budgets more than $2 million for library and recreation cost sharing in the region for 2013.
Leduc County’s cost-share payments to the Village of Thorsby and City of Leduc are expected to be finalized by month’s end.
Leduc County invested more than $7.2 million in the Leduc region in 2012 through cost-shared services for services like fire, Family and Community Support Services, library and parks and recreation.
