Leduc County celebrates 50 years
July 8, 2013 – Leduc County is proud to celebrate 50 years as Alberta’s best county at its 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Leduc West Antique Society on July 26 from 4 to 8 p.m.
“Progressive, diverse and sustainable, it is clear Leduc County has a great deal to celebrate on this historic anniversary,” said Rick Thomas, general manager of community services and chair of the 50th anniversary organizing committee. “As a thank-you to our residents, we ask that they join us at the 50th Anniversary Celebration to reflect on our region’s rich and vibrant history, while looking forward to its promising future.”
Open to all Leduc County residents, the 50th Anniversary Celebration is a free event with something for everyone to enjoy.
Music and performances by local artists are sure to get some toes tapping, as attendees share memories over a free meal. Surrounded by visual displays and antique equipment, there will also be a wide range of activities for children and youth at the celebration.
Leduc County was established on Sept. 24, 1963, when the Municipal District of Leduc No. 75 and the Leduc School Division No. 49 joined to form the County of Leduc No. 25. The name “Leduc County” became official on April 8, 1998.
