Leduc County council approves 2014 interim budget
December 12, 2013 – Leduc County council approved the 2014 interim municipal operating and capital budgets yesterday afternoon, following a series of budget meetings commencing Nov. 27.
The interim municipal operating budget from municipal tax dollars is set at $41.94 million, with the interim municipal capital budget from municipal tax dollars set at $8.44 million.
Council took into account the current economic climate and the requirement to maintain the current level of services offered to residents and business owners and approved a municipal budget increase of 3.56 per cent, but directed administration to reduce this increase to 3.0 per cent by May 2014.
The passing of the interim budget allows most projects to proceed before the 2014 budget is given final approval and tax rates are set in early May.
Notices will be mailed to all ratepayers in May after council sets the 2014 tax rates.
