Parking bylaw to increase safety in Nisku
Leduc County council approves bylaw to prohibit on-street parking in Nisku
Feb. 13, 2014 –Leduc County council unanimously approved bylaw 5-14, to impose a year-round on-street parking ban on all Leduc County roadways in the Nisku Industrial Business Park.
“Leduc County has decided to prohibit on-street parking in the Nisku Industrial Business Park in an effort to prevent potential accidents or near misses,” says Mayor John Whaley. “This bylaw is in the public interest and will help to increase safety in the park.”
Bylaw 5-14 received first and second reading on Feb. 4, 2014 and received third reading on Feb. 11, 2014. This bylaw is an amendment to Schedule 3 of bylaw 1226-76.
The no-parking bylaw encompasses all areas of the Nisku Industrial Business Park and is aimed at decreasing danger for all motorists, including those moving through the park and those who previously parked on the street.
Signage will be displayed throughout the park advising motorists that a parking ban is in effect. A reasonable grace period will be in effect prior to the enforcement of this bylaw, to allow affected individuals to find alternate arrangements.
Leduc County’s Land Use Bylaw 7-08, clause 6.9 Parking and Loading, states that all businesses in Leduc County are responsible for providing adequate parking for their business.
