Leduc County to host Town of Beaumont annexation open house
Feb. 19, 2014 – Leduc County will host an annexation open house early next month to update the public on the Town of Beaumont’s proposed annexation of land from Leduc County.
The Town of Beaumont provided Leduc County with its notice of intent to annex 24 quarter sections of land, or 1,536 hectares, on April 30, 2013. The Town of Beaumont passed a motion in open council on Feb. 11, 2014 to proceed with an annexation application to the Municipal Government Board. Details of this application are forthcoming, however, it is understood the proposed annexation area has been revised to include 21 quarter sections.
“We are disappointed that the Town of Beaumont is proceeding with this annexation application, as we believe we could have reached a more collaborative solution to address growth in the region,” says Leduc County Mayor John Whaley.
Leduc County will present information regarding the proposed annexation at the open house, prior to engaging in a question-and-answer session with attendees.
Date: Monday, March 3, 2014
Time: 6 to 9 p.m., with a presentation at 7 p.m.
Location: Coloniale Golf Club (10 Country Club Drive, Beaumont)
All members of the public and media are invited to attend Leduc County’s annexation open house.
