Leduc County and City of Edmonton continue negotiations

Feb. 24, 2015 – Council representatives from both Leduc County and the City of Edmonton met Friday, Feb. 20 to further annexation negotiations.

Discussions primarily focused on the City of Edmonton’s Growth Study, which is available at www.leduc-county.com/annexation or www.edmonton.ca/annexation.

Leduc County’s Intermunicipal Liaison Committee and the City of Edmonton’s Annexation Negotiation Committee are respectfully working through the information provided by the city, with the county seeking clarification to develop a common understanding of the information.

Annexation is a provincially regulated process and negotiation is part of the mandated process. The next negotiation session is scheduled for March 20, 2015.

Leduc County’s Intermunicipal Liaison Committee consists of Mayor John Whaley and councillors Clay Stumph, John Schonewille and Tanni Doblanko.

The City of Edmonton’s Annexation Negotiation Committee consists of Mayor Don Iveson and councillors Bryan Anderson, Ed Gibbons and Michael Walters.
