Municipal Development Plan Update photo contest wraps up

July 5, 2016 — Leduc County is pleased to award two amateur photographers for their submissions for the fourth and final instalment of Leduc County’s Municipal Development Plan (MDP) update photo contest.

Leduc County resident Joanna Juszkiewicz received 281 votes from the public – the most of the 11 photos submitted – for her photo “Before the storm.” In the youth category, Alanna Wegner won for her submission “Barnyard buddies.”

“Over the last 10 months, we have received 34 photos that capture the character of Leduc County as part of the Municipal Development Plan update photo contest,” says Laurie Johnson, senior planner and MDP project manager. “We are thrilled by the participation in the contest and look forward to further engaging residents as we move forward with the MDP update.”

Juszkiewicz and Wegner will receive a Leduc County prize package, including a 16GB iPod touch, and their photos will be featured in future Leduc County publications.

The MDP is Leduc County’s plan for the future. It is the roadmap for how the county will grow and develop over a 25- to 30-year period by guiding future land use and policy decisions. Leduc County is updating its MDP to ensure development is sustainable and provides a high quality of life for current and future residents. The project is now in its third phase; the MDP is being drafted based on the public input received to date and reviewed to ensure the policy directions comply with municipal plans, regional policies and provincial legislation. The draft MDP is expected to be presented later this year to residents and stakeholders for further input.
